Dottie & James

I've known Dottie for...well, forever. Her mom used to babysit me and has worked with my dad for as long as I can remember. So when she told me she was getting married in April, of course I wanted to be her photographer! And we met up in December to take some engagement style couples pictures.

It was way cold that morning, but we worked through it. We met in my absolute favorite location, Bonaventure Cemetery. This was a regular hang out back in high school and I love everything about it. To top it off, James brought his bad ass 1957 Chevy! Awesome care, awesome couple! Can't wait til April!!

Kaydence @ 6 months

Kaydance was a good sport again, even by the 3rd outfit and it was obvious she was over all of it. Emily tried to keep her attention by standing behind me and shaking toys. And yelling things like, "Hey baby, look here! Hey Kaydence, do you want a pizza?" Makes sense to me.

Squishy baby cheeks, bright blue eyes, and drool...lots and lots of drool. Enough said.

Drepung Loseling Monastery visit to Savannah

Through associations too complex to explain here, I have spent the last few days visiting the monks of the Drepung Loseling Monastery. They have regularly visited Savannah in the past few years, demonstrating the art of sand mandala painting in large public venues. Their most recent visits, however, have been more private and intimate, thanks to the dedication of Gary and Greg Butch. The invitation was open: come and stay as long as you like. I arrived on Monday and sat in on the opening ceremony and the planning of the mandala. On Tuesday, I returned to see the progress. These pictures show the detail and work that goes into the paintings.

I plan on going back again today to see more of the progress they are making. I hope to make it back in town on Sunday to be part of the closing ceremony.
Thank you to Gary and Greg, and to all of the monks for allowing me to be a part of this. I feel truly blessed. Nameste.

Emily

Here are some problems that come with being a photographer:

1. You get so over worked with taking pictures for clients that you forget to take pictures of your own family. The most you get are snapshots and you're lucky if you come out with something good. Oh, and you never have any recent pictures of yourself. The last usable picture of me was taken about 3 years ago.

2. You have little or no authority when trying to do a real 'session' with your own child. By now, they are so tired of you constantly saying "Look here! Look at the camera!" that it's really just a joke. Thus, you get lots of silly faces and attitude which can be both good and bad.

Emily just started pre-k, "big girl school", and ended up spending the Friday before school at work with me. We have a lake and walking trail in the complex, so we made it picture day for her. She really is a good sport and likes the camera, but was extra goofy. In the end, we ended up with some good shots and followed up with her being the photographer and me the subject. "Mommy, stand by that tree! Now stand by those flowers! Very good!". Thank you Fisher Price for kid-tough cameras! (It actually takes pretty decent pictures.)

I can't believe how grown she is.

Ashley & Kevin

Ashley and Kevin drove all the way from Ohio to have their wedding at her aunt's beautiful house on the Landings. It was a simple and elegant wedding, full of smiles and tears. Great people, great food, great party! Ashley's dress is one of my favorites, I love the lace detail on the back.

Congrats to you both, and to Hannah!

Dana & Reono

Another great wedding! Dana and Reono has a very small, family ceremony and a kick-ass reception. This one was at Southbridge and it was a great venue. Hands down, the best wedding food I've ever had.

You guys have a great family. Bella gave an awesome toast, not a dry eye in sight.

Best wishes to you all!

Introducing: Joey, plus his sisters

Baby number 3 for the Maggioni family- it's a boy! He's a little over a month old now, looks like such a little old man. But one of the calmest newborns I know. And of course, I couldn't not take pics of my girls Ava and her mini-me Sophia. Every time I see them I am amazed at how much they look alike. Ava is such a big girl, I can't believe how grown up she is. And FiFi is a maniac, in the best possible way :)
